For a martial artist, there are two moments in the martial journey that offer the biggest challenge and the most potential for personal growth.

The first is walking in the dojo (training hall) for the first time and starting classes; the second is getting out on the floor and competiting in a martial arts tournament.

Training in the martial arts and then choosing to compete are milestones in personal development for the martial artist that chooses to do so.
