With personalized martial arts instruction, even people with physical disabilities can learn the martial arts, because we customize the program to fit
what you can do.
At Z-Ultimate Self Defense Studios, we don’t focus on your limitations or what you can’t do – we focus on what you CAN do.
The large majority of people that walk into our dojos have some sort of medical condition or history. It is hard to get through life without having injured something along the way – like that old football injury, or that shoulder you hurt picking up your child the wrong way. Throw in the fact the Center for Disease Control reports that over sixty-eight (68)% of Americans are either overweight or obese (and all the medical conditions that come along with it) and we have experience dealing with medical histories and conditions.
We have had students with histories of knee surgery, shoulder surgery, back surgery, neck surgery, heart disease, fibromyalgia, arthritis, diabetes, obesity and more. We have trained students with Down’s Syndrome, Autism, ADD & ADHD, deafness, students that were legally blind – even a student who was in a wheelchair!
With personalized martial arts instruction, we can take your physical history into consideration when you train, making sure you don’t injure yourself while training, AND help strengthen the area that may be weak.
I myself had a neck surgery in 2004 for bone spurs and a bulging disc. My own instructor immediately modified my training when I came back, avoiding anything that stressed my neck or put it in a bad position, and at the same time, started working to strengthen and stretch it to make it healthier and stronger than before.
Within months, I was back to my normal routine and now, years later, my neck is stronger and healthier than it has ever been, and I’m doing things that most twenty-year olds would be afraid to attempt.
As long as you choose a program that can customize the training to your physical capabilities, you can guarantee that your physical limitations – whatever you think those might be – will not hold you back from going as far as you want to go in the martial arts.
With our program, there is always a way to work around any limitation. But – before you can discover how our world class personalized instruction can adapt to what you can do, you have to get started.
